Despite this current political uncertainty of 2017, politicians MUST ensure that the current broadband funding subsidy remains in place until the end of the year.
The subsidy basically entitles most people with slow broadband connections access to funding to support installing a faster service.
This scheme, overseen by Connecting Cumbria, in conjunction with Broadband Delivery UK (BDUK), is called the Basic Broadband Subsidy.
Research shows that broadband speeds strongly influenced how one in five Brits voted in this month’s election – showing how important good quality broadband speeds are.
Although different parties made different pledges on broadband, they must ALL make sure that the vital Basic Broadband Subsidy is in place until the end of the year.
