Cumbrian residents with slow broadband
We urge you to make sure you don’t miss out on the unique opportunity to upgrade to better broadband, with financial help from the government. There is a discounted broadband connection for Cumbria.
This scheme, overseen by Connecting Cumbria, in conjunction with Broadband Delivery UK (BDUK), is called the Basic Broadband Subsidy and is designed to make sure every resident in the county can afford to have a decent internet connection.

The Basic Broadband with Solway Comms offers you 10Mb/s download speeds, and 2.5Mb/s upload with NO data cap.
Basic Broadband
This service is ideally suited to homes using multiple streams of Amazon, Netflix, BBC iPlayer etc.
This service is available with free installation only in places where Connecting Cumbria determines will not get more than 2Mb/s download on the Openreach Network.
The Basic Broadband Subsidy Scheme provides support towards the cost of the installation of a broadband connection so that a basic broadband service can be purchased for a first year cost of no more than £400 (taking account of any up-front costs and the 12 month service charges).
The scheme can also be used to access more expensive packages with higher speeds.
You will only be eligible if your premises has access to download speeds of less than 2Mb/s.
If you think you are eligible, you can apply for a Subsidy Code, which will enable you to order a subsidised broadband service from any of the service providers that are part of the scheme. The scheme is only running in 2017 so don’t miss out!
